HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss women's golfers Brandi Rodriguez and Sarah Hicks recently competed in the Judson Collegiate Invitational & Legends Tour Atlanta Pro Am held at the Country Club of Roswell (Ga.).
Rodriguez finished in a tie for seventh after shooting a final round 76 to finish with a 54-hole score of 12-over 226. She fired a one-over 71 in the second round.
Hicks tied for 27-place after finishing with an 81 to close at 37-over par.
Ohio State's Rachel Rohanna earned medalist honors in the individual competing at even-par, five shots ahead of Nebraska's Maddie Shiels and Troy's Langley Vannoy.
The tournament donated $30,000 to the Children's Health Care of Atlanta. This particular charity provides grief counseling for children who have lost parents as well as parents who are losing children due to illness and disease.
"If Jim and Beth were here, they would be so proud of Lauren and all they did to accomplish in bringing all these people together," head coach Julie Gallup said. "The Legends of the LPGA came and played golf with collegiate players and a lot of mentoring relationships were born. There were seven Hall of Fame players compete including the winningest player, Kathy Whitworth. The collegiate players will learn a lot from some of the best that ever played golf. This is the first opportunity for any interaction on that kind of level."
