Women's Golf Competes at Rebel Intercollegiate
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss women's golf team will stay in state this weekend when it travels to Oxford for the Rebel Intercollegiate. The tournament, which will be Apr. 4-6, will be played at the par-72, 6,313-yard Ole Miss Golf Course.
The Lady Eagles will face some tough competition as 13 teams are in Golfstat's Top 100, led by No. 27 Kentucky and 33rd-ranked Tulane. East Tennessee State (43rd), Notre Dame (44th), Tennessee (60th), Harvard (62nd), Texas State (64th), host Ole Miss (71st), Kennesaw State (82nd), Furman (85th), Coastal Carolina (90th), South Florida (97th) and Samford (98th) are also ranked.
Also participating are Colorado State, GRU-Augusta, Memphis and Murray State.
Teeing off in the No. 1 position is senior Brandi Rodriguez. The Orlando, Fla., native leads the team with a stroke average of 75.77. She is coming off her fourth top-20 finish of the year at the UC Spring Invitational.
Sophomore Juliana Herrera will tee off in the No. 2 position. The Plantation, Fla., native is currently averaging 76.94 strokes per round and is coming off her third top-20 finish of the season at the UC Spring Invitational.
Teeing off in the No. 3 position is freshman Devon Spriddle. In eight tournaments this year, Spriddle has a stroke average of 80.91.
Freshman Emily Ross will tee off in the No. 4 position. This year, the Diamondhead, Miss., native has a stroke average of 81.11.
In the No. 5 position is senior Kaylee Random. The Alpharetta, Ga., native is averaging 83.00 strokes per round this year through nine rounds.
