HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss senior women's golfer Brandi Rodriguez was named Conference USA Women's Golfer of the Week, the conference office announced Wednesday.
She becomes just the second Lady Eagle golfer to be named Golfer of the Week twice in one season. It is also the fourth Golfer of the Week Award in her career.
Rodriguez opened the spring season by shooting even par to win the Lady Eagle Invitational. Her performance also helped Southern Miss to the team title. It is her second straight victory, having closed the fall season with a victory at the UAB Fall Beach Bash.
Rodriguez opened the tournament with a two-under 70. It is her sixth round of par or better this year and 13th of her career. The Orlando, Fla., native began the final round four-over through the first five holes. However, she shot two-under on the back nine to win by one stroke.
Rodriguez becomes just the third individual to twice win the Lady Eagle Invitational. She is also the first player in school history with at least three victories and the first with two wins in a season.
