HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss women's golf team returns to the links this week when it hosts the 19th annual Lady Eagle Invitational, Monday- Tuesday, Mar. 11-12. The tournament will be played at the par-72, 6,111-yard Hattiesburg Country Club.
Southern Miss is the top ranked team in the tournament, as it is ranked 91st in the latest Golfweek.com Top 100. The Lady Eagles will be joined by Austin Peay, Belmont, Jackson State, Louisiana-Monroe, Marshall, Memphis, New Orleans, South Alabama, Stephen F. Austin, Tennessee Tech, Troy, UAB, UT-Pan American, West Florida and William Carey.
The Lady Eagles have finished in the top five all six tournaments this year. They are coming off a fourth-place finish at the USA Lady Jaguar Invitational.
Senior Vicky Correa leads Southern Miss with a 76.20 stroke average. She earned five top 20 finishes on the year. Junior Brandi Rodriguez is second on the team with a stroke average of 76.33.
The tournament begins Monday with teams teeing off at 8:30 a.m. The teams will play 18 holes on Monday followed by the final 18 on Tuesday.
