Women's Golf Opens Spring Season; Hosts Lady Eagle Invitational
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss women's golf team begins its spring season this week when it hosts the 20th annual Lady Eagle Invitational. The tournament, which will be Mar. 10-11, will be played at the par-72, 6,111-yard Hattiesburg Country Club.
Participating in the tournament along with Southern Miss are Central Arkansas, Houston Baptist, Jackson State, Louisiana-Monroe, Memphis, Murray State, New Orleans, South Alabama, Stephen F. Austin, UAB, UT-Pan American and Western Kentucky. William Carey will play as individuals.
Teeing off in the No. 1 position is senior Brandi Rodriguez at 10:52 a.m. The Orlando, Fla., native leads the team with a stroke average of 75.21. She closed the fall season by earning medalist honors at the UAB Fall Beach Bash.
Teeing off in the No. 2 position is sophomore Juliana Herrera at 10:44 a.m. CT. In three tournaments this year, Herrera has a stroke average of 75.50.
Senior Lauren Judson will tee off in the No. 3 position at 10:36 a.m. CT. This year, she has a stroke average of 78.27.
Freshman Devon Spriddle will tee off in the No. 4 position at 10:28 a.m. CT. The Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, native is currently averaging 82.00 strokes per round through 14 rounds.
In the No. 5 position is sophomore Jennifer Nguyen. The Slidell, La., native is averaging 81.73 strokes per round this year.
