Women's Golf Opens Spring Season at USA Lady Jaguar Invitational

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss women's golf team opens up its spring season, Feb. 25-26, when it travels to Mobile, Ala., for the USA Lady Jaguar Invitational, hosted by South Alabama and played at the par-72, 6,051-yard Azalea City Golf Club.

Joining Southern Miss, who is ranked 89th, in the Golfweek Top 100, is No. 87 Arkansas-Little Rock.

Also competing in the tournament are Alabama State, Eastern Kentucky, Jackson State, Jacksonville State, Louisiana-Monroe, McNeese State, Mobile, South Alabama, Spring Hill, Troy, UAB and Western Kentucky.

This is the eighth year that Southern Miss will participate in the tournament. Two years ago, the Lady Eagles tied for second-place, their best-ever finish in the tournament.

Golfers will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 and Tuesday. Both days will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.

Southern Miss is led by freshman Juliana Herrera with a stroke average of 75.83 in 12 rounds. Senior Vicky Correa and junior Brandi Rodriguez are both averaging 75.92 strokes.
