Southern Miss Women’s Golf Back in Action for Spring Season
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss women’s golf team is in Melbourne, Fla. for the Moon Golf Invitational at the Duran Golf Club Feb. 19-20.
“We are very excited to get the spring season going,” said Interim Head Coach Eddie Brescher. “This golf course is in great shape and will be a great test for our team this week. When our team returned to campus we did a three week training camp to knock off the winter rust. We have put a big focus on short game and the results are showing. These girls have definitely done everything they can to prepare for our spring opener.”
The 6,309, par 72 course will play host to Augusta, Chattanooga, Furman, Kennesaw State, Louisville, Maryland, Memphis, Michigan, Old Dominion, Rutgers, USF and Virginia Tech for 54 holes of play.
The lineup for the tournament, Valentina Haupt, Nichada Satasuk, Emily Cox, Julie Baker and Miranda Holt, will be paired with Rutgers and Augusta on the first day of action and will start on holes 11-15. While Haupt and Satasuk have seen action in every tournament so far this year, it is Holt’s first start of the season and the first since the 2015-2016 Chris Banister Classic. Baker and Cox have seen action in each tournament this season except one.
Live stats can be followed at Golfstat.com and the opening round will commence at 8:30 a.m. ET with a shotgun start.
