Women's Golf to Open Spring Season at UM Hurricane Invitational
Lady Eagles return to the links for first time since October.

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss women's golf team will travel to Coral Gables, Fla. for the UM Hurricane Invitational, hosted by the University of Miami. The tournament will take place at Don Shula's Golf Resort.
A total of 18 teams, including 11 teams ranked in the Golfweek Top 100, are scheduled to compete. Joining Southern Miss is UCF, Charleston Southern, Coastal Carolina, Eastern Michigan, East Tennessee State, Georgia State, Illinois State, James Madison, Kentucky, Memphis, Mercer, Miami, North Carolina State, Oklahoma City, San Diego State, USF and Texas State.
Play will begin on Sunday with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m., followed by a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start on Monday and an 8 a.m. start on Tuesday.
Junior Virginia Espejo led Southern Miss in the fall, averaging a score of 76.8 per round in five events. She also set a Southern Miss record by shooting a 69 in the final round of the Cincinnati Fall Classic, becoming the first Lady Eagle to shoot a round under 70. Senior Amy Roberts averaged 78.4 shots, and senior Samantha Holt shot 78.5.
