Women's Golf Takes Fifth-Place at Blue Raider Invitational

Murfreesboro, Tenn. - The Southern Miss women's golf team finished in fifth-place at the Blue Raider Invitational, hosted by Middle Tennessee State and played at the par-72, 6,177-yard Old Fort Golf Club.

The Lady Eagles shot a final round 310 to finish 47-over par, which tied the fourth-best score relative to par in school history.

Senior Vicky Correa tied for 20th-place at 11-over par after shooting a final round 79. It is Correa's third top 20 finish of the year and the 12th of her career. Junior Brandi Rodriguez tied for 23rd-place after carding a 77 to finish 12-over par. Redshirt junior Lauren Judson shot a 79 to finish with a 54-hole score of 231, 15-over par. Her 54-hole score is a career-best and her 37th-place finish is her season-best.

Sophomore Sarah Hicks shot a 78 to finish 16-over par, tied for 41st-place. Freshman Juliana Herrera closed out the scoring at 21-over par after posting a 76 to finish tied for 63rd-place.

Host Middle Tennessee State won the team competition at 25-over par, 16 shots in front of second-place Morehead State.

Southern Illinois' Cassie Rushing took home medalist honors at one-over par, four shots ahead of Lamar's Julie Aime and Avery George of Middle Tennessee State.

Southern Miss closes out its fall schedule next week when it travels to Gulf Shores, Ala., for the UAB Fall Beach Bash, Oct. 29-30.
