Lincoln, Neb. - The Southern Miss women's golf squad finished in 10th-place at the season-opening Chip-N-Club Invitational, played at the par-72, 6,651 Wilderness Ridge Golf Course and hosted by Nebraska.
The Lady Eagles shot a final round 314 to finish 105-over par, two shots behind ninth-place Nebraska-Omaha.
Seniors Lauren Judson and Brandi Rodriguez led Southern Miss at 24-over par, tying for 36th-place. Rodriguez shot a 77 and Judson shot a 78 for a 54-hole score of 240.
Freshman Emily Ross tied for 42nd-place, posting a 78 to finish 26-over par. Freshman Devon Spriddle finished 31-over par in a 49th-place tie after carding n 81 and sophomore Jennifer Nguyen shot an 89 to finish tied for 68th-place, 42-over par.
Nebraska won the team tournament at 10-over par. Central Arkansas took second-place at 28-over par.
Nebraska's Cassie Deeg won the individual competition at three-under par, four shots ahead of teammate Steffi Neisen.
The Lady Eagles return to the links on Sept. 20-22, when they travel to Greenville, S.C., for the Lady Paladiin Invitational.
