Southern Miss Women's Golf in 10th-Place after First Round of Conference USA Championships

Gulf Shores, Ala. - The Southern Miss women's golf team shot an opening round 347 (+59) to sit in 10th-place after one round of the 2012 Conference USA Championships, played at the Peninsula Golf & Racquet Club in Gulf Shores, Ala., on the par-72, 6,426-yard Cypress-Marsh Course.

Tulsa leads the team competition at 11-over par. Tulane (+13) is two-shots back in second-place and UCF is in third at 18-over par.

Sophomore Brandi Rodriguez and redshirt sophomore Lauren Judson are tied for 39th-place after each shooting rounds of 85.

Senior Sandra Sohlberg is tied for 44th-place after posting an 87, while junior Vicky Correa and freshman Sarah Hicks each carded a 90 to tie for 46th-place.

UAB's Caitlin Watts leads the individual completion as she shot a two-under 70. Tulsa's Marita Engzelius is in second place at one-under par.

The championship continues tomorrow with the second round. Southern Miss tees off at 8:20 a.m.
