Women's Golf Team In Twelfth After Opening Round of Insperity Lady Jaguar Invitational

Augusta, Ga. - The Southern Miss women's golf team is in 12th-place after the first round of the Insperity Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate. The tournament is hosted by Augusta State and is played at the par 72, 6,214-yard Forest Hills Golf Club.
The Lady Eagles shot a first round 318 to finish 30-over par, one shot behind 11th-place Maryland and four shots behind UTSA for 10th-place.
Junior Brandi Rodriguez shot an opening round 76, pacing the squad in a tie for 21st-place. Freshman Juliana Herrera is tied for 26th-place after opening with a five-over 77. Redshirt Junior Lauren Judson shot an 82 to open in a tie for 71st-place. Senior Vicky Correa is tied for 83rd-place after posting an 11-over 83, and sophomore Sarah Hicks opened with an 89 to sit in a tie for T95th-place.
Vanderbilt leads the team competition, shooting a two-over par 290. Purdue is in second-place at seven-over par, followed by Texas at 11-over.
Lauren Stratton of Vanderbilt is the individual leader at three under-par followed by Jenny Hahn of Vanderbilt and Natalie Wille of Augusta State in a tie for second at two-under par. Laura Gonzalez of Purdue is in fourth-place at one-under par.
The tournament continues tomorrow with the second round, beginning at 8:00 a.m. central time.
