Gainesville, Fla. - Sophomore Samantha Holt shot an opening round 76 to close in a tie for 13th after Day One of the Gainesville Shootout III in Gainesville, Fla. The tournament is being hosted by the University of Florida and played at the Mark Bostick Golf Course. Freshman Jennifer Judge shot a ten-over par 80 to tie for 34th-place. Freshman Virginia Espejo is tied for 48th after shooting an 81. Junior Heather Golden and sophomore Rebecka Nilsson round out the Lady Eagles by shooting an 85 and 88 to tie for 65th and 73rd, respectively. Nicole Schachner of Florida and Lindsay Davis of Michigan are tied for the lead with an even par 70. Illinois State's Laura Harris is one-shot pack in second place. Texas State leads the team scoring with 301 strokes. Texas A&M-Chorpus Christi and Illinois State are tied for second with 308 strokes, while Michigan and Illinois are tied for fourth with 309 strokes. West Florida sits in sixth with 311, Louisiana-Monroe is in seventh with 313, and Nevada is in eighth with 314. UT-Pan American is in ninth with 315 strokes, followed by Wofford at 316, Appalachian State (320), Iowa (321), Southern Miss (322), Troy (326) and Albany (350). Southern Miss returns to play tomorrow for Round Two. Play begins with a shotgun start at 8:45 a.m.
