Women's Golf Wins Lady Eagle Invitational on First Hole of Playoff

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - It took extra holes, but Southern Miss won the rain-shortened 19th annual Lady Eagle Invitational, played at the par-72, 6,111-yard Hattiesburg Country Club.

Vicky Correa parred the final hole to send it to a playoff with Memphis. On the first hole, Brandi Rodriguez' par clinched the Lady Eagles third victory of the season. It is also their fifth Lady Eagle Invitational title.

Rodriguez shot a 73 to tie for second-place. It is her second top five finish of the year and the fifth of her career.

Correa and Sarah Hicks tied for sixth-place with a 77. It is Correa's third top ten finish of the year and the ninth of her career, while it is Hicks first career top ten finish.

Freshman Juliana Herrera shot a 79 to tie for 17th-place for her third top 20 finish of the year. Freshman Jennifer Nguyen had a season-best finish, tying for 36th-place after shooting an 82. Junior Lauren Judson shot an 83 to tie for 42nd-place and junior Kaylee Random shot an 87 to tie for 64th-place.

Kirsten Hensley (tied for 85th), MacKenzie Kelly (t88th), Kristen Van de Voorde (93rd) and Charlotte McLoughlin (95th) all played in their first tournaments of the year.

Southern Miss this weekend when it travels to Augusta, Ga., for the Insperity Lady Jaguar Invitational, Friday-Sunday, March 15-17.
