Pair of Southern Miss Women's Golfers Occupy Top 25 after Two Rounds

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss women's golfers Valentina Haupt and Nichada Satasuk hold down spots in the top 25 at the Moon Golf Invitational after two rounds from the Duran Golf Club in Melbourne, Fla.

Haupt, who shot her sixth round of par or better on the season, climbed from 34th to tied for 13th during the second set of 18. The Santiago, Chile native upped her three birdie performance in the first round to five birdies during the second go. The junior only had four blemishes on her scorecard during the latter half of the day. Haupt will begin tomorrow's round with a score of three-over 147 and placed ahead of the nation's no. 52, 65, 74, 93 and 97 ranked golfers.

Through 36 holes of play, Satasuk is five-over at 149 and starts the final day of play in a 10 way tie for 21st. The senior carded a one-under 71 in her opening bout, bringing her total to six rounds of par or better on the year. Her first round included an Eagle and only two bogeys.

Freshman Julie Baker's two-over 74 afternoon performance vaulted her 10 spots to be tied for 44th. She owns a nine-over 153 total headed into the final day of play.

Freshman Emily Cox tallied a 16-over 160 total to sit tied for 68th and junior Miranda Holt collected a 19-over 163 to place 72nd overall.

The Golden Eagles will begin the final round in 10th place after shooting a 33-over 609 through 36 holes and will be paired with Rutgers and Michigan. Live stats can be followed at and the final round will commence at 1:00 p.m. ET with a shotgun start.
