Crystal River, Fla. - The Southern Miss women's golf team tied for eighth-place the UC Spring Invitational. The tournament was hosted by Cincinnati and was played at the par-72, 6,054-yard Plantation Inn Golf Resort.
The Lady Eagles shot a 301 to finish 60-over par in a tie with Seminole State. They finished two-shots back of seventh-place Florida Atlantic.
Senior Brandi Rodriguez and sophomore Juliana Herrera tied for 18th-place at 12-over par. Rodriguez closed with a 75, while Herrera fired a career-best 70. It is her third career round of par or better. The 18th-place finish is Rodriguez' 20th career top-20 finish and Herrera's sixth.
Senior Lauren Judson and freshman Devon Spriddle tied for 31st-place at 18-over par. Judson carded a 76 while Spriddle shot an 80.
Freshman Emily Ross tied for 69th-place at 33-over par after posting an 80 and sophomore Jennifer Nguyen carded an 82 to tie for 77th-place at 36-over par. Senior Kaylee Random shot an 85 to finish in 88th-place.
Jacksonville won the team competition at 23-over par, seven shots in front of Lynn. Jessica Welch earned medalist honors at five under-par, five shots in front of second-place Ali Kruse of Seton Hall.
The Lady Eagles return to the links next week when it travels to Oxford, Miss., for the Rebel Intercollegiate, April 4-6.
