HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss women's basketball team returns to the court after taking a few days off for the holiday. The Lady Eagles will host Nicholls on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Southern Miss Preview
The Lady Eagles (9-2) are coming off a 83-61 win over New Orleans on Dec. 21. Four Lady Eagles scored in double figures led by Jamierra Faulkner with a game-high 18 points. Tamara Jones added a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds, Ashley Folsom had 13 points and Markia Nix chipped in 11.
Jones currently leads the team in scoring and rebounding, averaging 18.5 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. Faulkner is next at 13.3 points followed by Brittanny Dinkins at 10.0 points. Faulkner is dishing out 9.0 assists per game to go with 2.7 steals.
The Lady Eagles are averaging 78.5 points and 40.7 rebounds per game while shooting 46.4 percent from the field and 66.5 percent from the line.
Scouting the Colonels
Nicholls (5-5) comes into the game following a 74-65 loss at Stetson. Jenny Nash scored a team-best 15 points as Emani White tallied 13, Shay Arnick had 12 and Taylor Morrison chipped in 11.
Nicholls returns eight letterwinners including four starters from last season's team that finished 19-11.
White leads the team in scoring with at 19.6 points per game followed by KK Babin at 10.6 points. Marina Lilly leads the team in rebounding at 5.8 boards per game. As a team, Nicholls is averaging 67.2 points and 34.6 rebounds per game while shooting 37.1 percent from the field and 75.1 percent from the line.
Coach DoBee Plaisance is in her seventh season at Nicholls.
Series Record: Southern Miss vs. Nicholls
This is the 15th meeting overall between the two schools dating back to the 1976-77 season. Southern Miss leads the overall series 12-2.
Following the Nicholls game, the Lady Eagles open the New Year hosting William Carey on Jan. 4 at 4 p.m. in the annual dollar day ticket. All tickets, soft drinks, hot dogs and popcorn are only $1 for that day only.
