HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss women's basketball team will play its third game in five days when the Lady Eagles host Grambling State on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.

The Lady Eagle contest can be heard on WHXB-FM 96.5 or at SouthernMiss.com with Josh West, voice of the Lady Eagles, providing the play-by-play action and legendary coach Kay James as color analyst.

Southern Miss Preview
The Lady Eagles (7-2) are coming off a 71-60 win against Central Arkansas. Junior Markia Nix turned in a career-high 16 points to lead a trio of Lady Eagles in scoring. Nix was perfect from the field. Jamierra Faulkner netted 12 points, moving ahead of Pauline Love on the all-time scoring list. Tamara Jones added 10 points.

Jones currently leads the team in scoring and rebounding, averaging 18.9 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. Faulkner is next at 13.6 points followed by Brittanny Dinkins at 10.6 points. Faulkner is dishing out 9.2 assists per game to go with 2.8 steals.

The Lady Eagles are averaging 78.2 points and 39.1 rebounds per game while shooting 46.3 percent from the field anf 67.5 percent from the line.

Scouting the Tigers
Grambling State (2-6) comes into the game following a 92-55 loss at Stephen F. Austin. Joanna Miller led the way with 19 points followed by Victoya Ricks with 13. Tyler Anderson pulled down a game-high 15 rebounds. Grambling returns only four letterwinners from last season that finished 9-23.

Miller leads the team in scoring with an 18.7 per game average followed by Ricks with a 12.0 point per game average. Ricks also leads the team in rebounding at 8.1 boards per game. As a team, GSU is averaging 65.6 points and 41.6 rebounds per game while shooting 38.3 percent from the field and 56.9 percent from the line.

Coach Patricia Cage Bibbs is in his 15th season at Grambling State.

Series Record: Southern Miss vs. Grambling State
This is the fifth meeting between the two schools. Southern Miss leads the overall series 3-1.

Next Up
The Lady Eagles remain home to host UNO on Saturday at 1 p.m, playing their fourth game in eight days before taking a few days off for the Christmas Holiday.
