Second Half Start Propels Southern Miss to a 53-44 win Over Central Arkansas
The women's basketball team used a 12-2 run to start the second half in defeating Central Arkansas, 53-44, Saturday afternoon in Reed Green Coliseum.

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss women's basketball team plays its second road game in three days when the Lady Eagles face Central Arkansas on Monday evening at 5 p.m.

The Lady Eagle contest can be heard on WHXB-FM 96.5 or at with Josh West, voice of the Lady Eagles, providing the play-by-play action.

Southern Miss Preview
The Lady Eagles are coming off a 71-61 loss at Mississippi State. Tamara Jones led all scorers with a game-high 27 points while Jerontay Clemons added 17 points off the bench. Clemons was also the top rebounder with six rebounds.

Jones currently leads a quartet of Lady Eagles in scoring and rebounding, averaging 20.0 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. Jamierra Faulkner is next at 13.8 points followed by Brittanny Dinkins at 11.6. Clemons is chipping in 10.6 points per game. Faulkner is dishing out 9.6 assists per game to go with 3.0 steals.

The Lady Eagles are averaging 79.1 points and 40.2 rebounds per game while shooting 45.1 percent from the field and 68.3 percent from the line. Southern Miss is giving up 65.1 points on 40.3 percent shooting.

Scouting the Sugar Bears
Central Arkansas comes into the game with a 5-3 record following a 39-37 loss to Southern Illinois on Dec. 2. Micah Rice, Maggie Proffitt and Brittany Agee led the way with eight points each while Courtney Duever pulled down 11 rebounds.

Head Coach Sandra Rushing is in her second season and returns only four letterwinners from last season's team that finished 15-15.

Duever leads the team in scoring and rebounding with 11.9 points and 8.6 rebounds per game followed by Proffitt with 11.0 point per game. As a team, UCA is averaging 63.2 points and 39.4 rebounds per game while shooting 41.8 percent from the field and 64.4 percent from the line.

Next Up
Following the UCA game, Southern Miss returns home to host Grambling State on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
