HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss Lady Eagles move north to take on Ole Miss tomorrow morning in Oxford at 11 a.m. Fans can hear Josh West on the call by tuning in to WFOR 1400 AM The Score or listening through the Southern Miss Game Day App starting 30 minutes before tipoff. The game will also be streamed through SEC Network Plus on and the ESPN app.

The teams, both coming off matchups with South Alabama, will meet for the 23 time, the first meeting coming during the 1975-1976 season.

Stellar Defensive Effort Aids Lady Eagles in Win over Ole Miss 57-38
The Southern Miss Lady Eagle basketball team used a stellar defensive effort, holding Ole Miss to 21.4 percent shooting from the field in defeating the Rebels 57-38 Saturday evening in Reed Green Coliseum.

The Lady Eagles will look to get the first back-to-back wins in the series and the first win in Oxford since 1996.

Southern Miss is coming off a week where they split the pair of scheduled games. Jayla King led the team in both games and was named C-USA’s honor roll, the player with the second highest votes for player of the week. In the outings she tallied 25 and 22 total points, respectively. It was the first time King has notched back-to-back 20 point games and King also registered a double-double, adding 11 rebounds, against South Alabama.

Sophomore Shonte Hailes, who was named to last year’s C-USA All-Freshman squad, is the team’s second leading scorer and sprinkles in 13.8 points per game. She’s also dishing out a conference-high 5.5 assists a game. Southern Miss is second in C-USA for total assists.

The team is shooting a conference leading .466 field goal percentage and it has three players, Hailes, King and Megan Brown, are some of the conference’s best shooters.
