HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss women's basketball team returns home to host in-state rival Mississippi State on Saturday in a 4 p.m. (CT) tipoff.

The Lady Eagle contests can be heard on WHXB-FM 96.5 or at with Josh West, voice of the Lady Eagles, providing the play-by-play action.

Southern Miss Preview
Southern Miss is coming off an 88-71 win over Florida A&M. Tanecka Carey scored a career-high 39 points on 15-of-22 shooting performance including 7-of-10 from behind the arc. Jamierra Faulkner registered her first double-double of the season with 14 points and 12 assists while Jerontay Clemons chipped in 11 points and grabbed a team-best six rebounds.

A trio of Lady Eagles is averaging in double figures. Carey is tops at 16.0 points per game followed by Faulkner at 13.6 and Clemons at 13.4 points. Clemons also paces the team in rebounds, averaging 7.8 per game.

Through five games, Southern Miss is averaging 63.0 points and 41.6 rebounds while shooting 40.6 percent from the field and 59.4 percent from the line.

Scouting Mississippi State
Mississippi State is 3-4 on the season following a 70-55 over Savannah State on Nov. 29. Carnecia Williams led the team with 26 points while Kendra Grant added a double-double with 16 points and 15 rebounds. Sherise Williams chipped in 10 points. Grant leads the team in scoring with 15.3 points per game average while Martha Alwal is next at 14.3 points. Alwal is the team leader in rebounds at 9.1 per game. The Bulldogs are averaging 57.9 points and 38.0 rebounds per game while shooting 34.4 percent from the field and 76.0 percent from the line.

Southern Miss vs. Mississippi State Series
This is the 39th meeting between the two teams dating back to the 1975-76 season ... Southern Miss leads the overall series 21-17, but Mississippi State has won seven of the last 10 meetings including the last four.

Following the Mississippi State game, Southern Miss takes to the road again and travels to Little Rock, Ark., for a game against UALR on Dec. 4 in a 7:30 p.m. tip.
