Women's Basketball Travels to Florida A&M for Midweek Contest
Lady Eagles play second road contest of the season.

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss women's basketball team will travel to Tallahassee, Fla., for a midweek contest against Florida A&M in a 6 p.m. (CT) tipoff.

Southern Miss Preview
Southern Miss is coming off a 68-59 overtime win against McNeese State in the championship game of the Lady Eagle Thanksgiving Classic. Jamierra Faulkner netted 20 points to lead the Lady Eagles in scoring while tournament MVP Jerontay Clemons recorded her first double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Tanecka Carey added 11 points and nine rebounds. Freshman Tiarra Pollnitz also earned all-tournament honors.
A trio of Eagles is averaging in double figures. Clemons is tops with a 14.0 per game average followed by Faulkner with 13.5 and Carey with 10.3 points. Clemons also paces the team in rebounds, averaging 8.3 per game. Through four games, Southern Miss is averaging 56.8 points and 41.8 rebounds while shooting 37.3 percent from the field and 55.7 percent from the line.
Scouting Florida A&M
Florida A&M is 2-2 on the young season following a 77-58 loss at Georgia on Nov. 24 in the GSU Thanksgiving Tournament. Jasmine Grice led the team with 30 points while Kimberley Sparkman added 14 points. Tierra Prothro pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds. Grice leads the team in scoring with a 25.0 per game average while Sparkman is next at 17.8 points. Prothro is the team leader in rebounds at 8.0 per game. The Lady Rattlers are averaging 66.8 points and 33.5 rebounds per game while shooting 34.9 percent from the field and 74.7 percent from the line. The FAMU defense is forcing its opponents into 24.8 turnovers per game and is averaging 14.3 steals.
Southern Miss vs. Florida A&M Series
This is the fifth meeting between the two teams in a series dating back to 1995. The Lady Eagles lead the overall series 3-1.
Following the Florida A&M game, Southern Miss returns home to host in-state rival Mississippi State on Dec. 1 in a 4 p.m. tip.
