HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss women's basketball team welcomes UT-Martin to town on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. game.

The game will be broadcasted over WHXB-FM 96.5 with Josh West, voice of the Lady Eagles, providing the play-by-play action and legendary head coach Kay James as his color analyst.

Lady Eagle Preview
Southern Miss is coming off a 62-46 win over William Carey in the season-opener. Newcomer Tanecka Carey made her Southern Miss debut in style, scoring a game-high 25 points to go with seven assists and four rebounds. Senior Rachel Vigers added 18 points while junior Ance Celmina pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds. All six newcomers saw action that also included Sedreka Plummer, Hannah Fletcher, Wendy Miller and redshirt freshman Nitesha Pierce.

The Lady Eagles finished the game shooting 45.5 percent and pulled down 55 rebounds. After the one game, Carey leads the Lady Eagles in scoring at 25.0 points followed by Vigers at 18.0 points. Celmina leads the team in rebounds at 12.0 boards per game.

UT-Martin Preview
UT-Martin comes into the game with a 2-0 record following an 84-60 win over Air Force on Sunday. The Skyhawks got scored 40 points in the paint and 32 off 27 Air Force turnovers. Heather Butler scored a game-high 23 points followed by Jasmine Newsome with 18, Jaclissa Haislip added 14 and Taylor Hall chipped in 11. The Skyhawks were 10-of-30 from behind the arc and collected 14 steals. The team finished the game shooting 46.4 percent from the field and 90.9 percent from the line.

Coach Kevin McMillan is in his third season at UT-Martin and returns 10 letterwinners including four starters from last year's squad that finished 21-11. Butler and Newsome lead the team in scoring with 21.0 and 18.5 points, respectively. Jaclissa Haislip chips in 14.0 points. Butler and Taylor Hall are pulling down a team-leading 7.0 rebounds per game each.

As a team, UTM is averaging 75.5 points and 45.0 rebounds while shooting 37.1 percent from the field and 73.2 percent from the line. The Skyhawks have connected on 17 triples in two games.
