Brittanny Dinkins earns her first Freshman of the Week honor

IRVING, Texas - Rice senior Jessica Kuster was named Conference USA Women's Basketball Player of the Week after scoring a game-high 33 points and grabbing 15 rebounds for her 41st career double-double as Rice defeated Prairie View A&M, 77-63, Friday. Freshman of the Week accolades go to Southern Miss' Brittanny Dinkins. She netted a game-high 28 points on 11-of-17 shooting for a .647 percent accuracy as the Golden Eagles downed West Alabama, 101-44, in the season opener Friday.

Dinkins made her collegiate debut in grand fashion, scoring a game-high 28 points on 11-of-17 shooting (.647) including 1-2 from behind the arc. Dinkins grabbed five rebounds and pocketed five steals while playing 31 minutes. Her 28-point performance was the best debut of any Lady Eagle in the history. Dinkins picks up her first career Freshman of the Week accolade.
