HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss women's basketball team took some time out of their busy day to visit a pair of area elementary schools.
Assistant Coach Jordan Dupuy, sophomore Wendy Miller and freshman Samirah Ali spent time at the Thames Elementary School near campus while head coach Joye Lee-McNelis and freshman Tiarra Pollnitz visited Dixie Elementary.
Players and coaches talked to kids about the importance of staying in school, making good grades, good behavior as well as what it takes to be a student-athlete and what a typical day is like for the student-athlete.
The Lady Eagles will continue to prepare for the upcoming season with their daily practices. Southern Miss will play an exhibition game against Mobile before the season-opener against Hampton University at 11 a.m. for Education Day.
