HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss women's basketball team took time out of their normal schedule for the better part of Tuesday aiding in the building of a Habitat for Humanity home in Petal, Miss.
The team and staff took two different shifts as head coach Joye Lee-McNelis, the seniors and Mack Gardner worked the morning hours while the assistant coaches Jordan Dupuy and Tomekia Reed and the remaining players had the afternoon shift.
"We are happy that our women's basketball program was able to give back to the community," McNelis said. "There are a lot of people who aren't as fortunate as others and this was a way for us to help. It's a great feeling to know that a family will be able to live in a home that this team help build."
