Love comes to Southern Miss following a one-year stint as an assistant coach at McNeese State where her duties included on campus and off campus recruiting, social media director in recruiting and marketing of Cowgirl basketball, assist in camps and clinics, scouting, skill development, on court coaching with both the posts and guards and any other duties needed.
Prior to joining the McNeese staff, Love went on to the next level following her collegiate career, playing for the WNBA's Connecticut Sun in 2010 and the Cote d'Opale Basket Calais professional team in France during the 2010-11 season.
"I am so excited to have Pauline on our staff," McNelis said. "She grew up in our program and now has a story to tell that changed her life. I am so proud of her."
While at Southern Miss, Love was a three-time, first team All-Conference USA performer as well as a three-time finalist for the Gillom Trophy, which recognizes the top women's collegiate basketball player in the state of Mississippi.
"I am excited about the opportunity to be back home, so to speak," Love said. "She knows that I love this program as much as she does. I watched Coach McNelis when I was a player and as an assistant coach at McNeese and no head coach pours their heart and soul into a program like she does."
During her senior campaign with the Lady Eagles, Love averaged 18.3 ppg and 12.8 rpg. She also ranked second in the nation in both rebounds per game and double-doubles (21), as well as ranking 33rd in scoring.
Love guided the Lady Eagles to one postseason appearance during her tenure, in which they reached the round of 16 in the WNIT. She finished her playing career ranking in the Top 10 on the school charts in nine different categories, including second in rebounding average (11.1), third in rebounding (1,051), fourth in scoring average (16.6), fifth in field goals made (648) and field goals attempted (1,436), sixth in scoring (1,576) seventh in 3-point goals made (94) and attempted (307) and 10th in minutes played (3,188).
Love is a native of Luxora, Arkansas and spent three seasons at Southern Miss after a one year stint at Jones County Junior College.
