HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Jamierra Faulkner led Southern Miss women's basketball team to one of the more successful seasons in recent years and now is embarking on the next stage of her career this week with the Chicago Sky.
The West Palm Beach, Fla., native made the Sky's 12-player roster, becoming just the second Southern Miss player to make a WNBA team roster.
Faulkner played in both of the Sky's preseason games, scoring a team-high 11 points against the Indiana Fever. In two games, she is averaging 3.5 points and 1.0 assists.
Faulkner was named a 2014 all-C-USA first team and the Defensive Player of the Year award. She started all 34 games for the Lady Eagles, ranking first in scoring (17.7), assists (8.6) and steals (3.1). Faulkner set a single.
Faulkner finished her career ranking third on Southern Miss' all-time scoring list with 2,056 points. Her 883 assists rank first all-time at Southern Miss and in Conference USA.
