HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss women's basketball team enters the 2014 Conference USA Tournament as the No. 2 Seed after finishing the season with a 13-3 C-USA record. This is only the second time that Southern Miss has been seeded as high as No. 2 with the last time coming in the inaugural season of Conference USA.
After drawing a double bye, Southern Miss will face the winner of Old Dominion and the winner between Tulsa and UTSA on Tuesday.

Southern Miss Preview
The Lady Eagles (24-5, 13-3) ended the regular season with an 80-77 win at North Texas. Junior Tamara Jones scored a game-high 32 points including the final six to seal the win. Senior Jamierra Faulkner added 21 points to go with five assists while Jerontay Clemons recorded her second double-double this season with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Brittanny Dinkins also dished out five assists and had four steals.
Faulkner continues to lead the team in scoring and assists, averaging 17.4 points and 8.4 assists per game. Jones is next at 14.6 points and a team-best 6.1 rebounds per game while Clemons is averaging 11.3 points.
The Lady Eagles are averaging 79.1 points and 39.5 rebounds per game while shooting 46.6 percent from the field and 68.1 percent from the line.
Scouting Old Dominion
Old Dominion (16-14, 9-7) enters the Conference USA Tournament seed No. 7 and draws a first-round bye. ODU is coming off an 87-78 win over East Carolina in their final regular season game on March 5. Shae Kelley led the Lady Monarchs with 32 points while Becca Allison and Stephanie Gardner added 11 and 10 points, respectively. Tiffany Minor pulled down a team-best 13 rebounds.
Kelley leads the team in scoring and rebounding with 18.1 points and 10.1 rebounds per game. Old Dominion is averaging 68.3 points and 41.2 rebounds per game while shooting 40.5 percent from the field and 62.3 percent from the line.
Coach Karen Barefoot is in her fourth season at Old Dominion as head coach.

This is the second meeting between the two teams. ODU won the initial meeting in Hattiesburg.
Tulsa (12-15, 6-10) is the 10th seed in the C-USA Tournament and will face UTSA in the first round. Tulsa is coming off 68-57 win over Charlotte on Mar. 5. Five Golden Hurricane players scored in double figures led by Kelsee Grovey and Ashley Clark with 15 points each. Mariah Turner and Loren McDaniel had 12 points apiece. Kadan Brady chipped in 10. Turner and McDaniel also had seven rebounds each.
Clark leads the team in scoring and rebounding with 14.5 points and 6.1 rebounds per game while Grovey is next with 12.2 points and Turner chips in 10.5 points per game. Tulsa is averaging 68.8 points and 38.4 rebounds per game while shooting 41.4 percent from the field and 66.7 percent from the line.
Coach Matilda Mossman is in her third season at Tulsa as head coach.

This is the 12th meeting between the two teams dating back to 2006. Tulsa leads the overall series 9-2 against Southern Miss. Tulsa won the first five meetings between the two teams. Southern Miss snapped a four game losing streak to Tulsa.
UTSA (13-16, 4-12) enters the tournament as the No. 15 seed. The Road Runners are coming off an 81-75 overtime loss at Marshall on Mar. 5. Mathilde Hergott led the UTSA with 17 points while Miki Turner added 15 points. Mannasha Bell and Tesha Smith chipped in 11 and 10 points, respectively. Akunna Elonu pulled down a team-best 12 rebounds.
Kamra King leads the team in scoring with 14.1 points per game while Smith and McKenzie Adams lead the team in rebounds at 5.7 per game. UTSA is averaging 60.6 points and 38.9 rebounds per game while shooting 36.4 percent from the field and 63.6 percent from the line.
Coach Lubomyr Lichonczak is in his first season at UTSA as head coach.
