Faulkner Named College Sports Madness High-Major National Player of the Week
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss guard Jamierra Faulkner was named Madness Conference USA Women's Basketball Player of the Week for her exceptional performance during the week.
Jamierra Faulkner averaged 29.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 3.5 steals in leading Southern Miss to a pair of road victories over the week. She shot 53.7 percent from the field and 73.7 percent from the line. Faulkner scored a team-best 30 points against FIU including 10 of 20 points over a span of 6:37 to help tie the game. Faulkner also came up with three steals to become the all-time leader at Southern Miss. The six assists put Faulkner over the 800-assist mark in the process. Faulkner followed with a 29-point performance against Florida Atlantic and was responsible for scoring 10 of the first 14 points to start the second in helping Southern Miss take the lead for good. Faulkner topped the 1,900-point mark, moving into third on the all-time scoring list at Southern Miss and eight in Conference USA.
