USM Game Notes
HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss women's basketball team will close out its two-game homestand when the Lady Eagles host UAB on Sunday at 2 p.m. The Children's Center for Communication and Development will be featured and recognized during the game.

Southern Miss Preview
Southern Miss enters the contest with a 12-13 overall record and 4-8 in league play following an 80-74 overtime loss to Memphis on Thursday. Jamierra Faulkner recorded her fifth double-double with a game-high 25 points and 13 assists while Tanecka Carey netted 20 points and Jerontay Clemons chipped in 17 points and eight rebounds.
Faulkner continues to lead the team in scoring with 18.6 points per game average while Carey is next at 15.0. Jerontay Clemons leads the team in rebounding with 6.7 rebounds per game while contributing 9.6 points.
As a team, the Lady Eagles are averaging 63.0 points on 39.8 percent shooting from the field. The Black and Gold is averaging 38.4 rebounds and shooting 62.9 percent from the charity stripe.
UAB is 15-10 overall and 6-6 in league play following a 57-52 loss to Tulane on Thursday. Ashley Grimes led all scorers with 18 points while Kelsie Weynand added 12 points. Karisma Chapman pulled down 13 rebounds.
Amber Jones leads the team with 13.4 points per game with Grimes next at 13.3 points and Chapman at 12.3 points. Chapman also leads the team with 6.9 rebounds per game.
UAB is averaging 62.4 points and 37.1 rebounds per game while shooting a 38.9 percent from the field and 66.2 percent from the line.
Southern Miss vs. UAB Series Record
This is the 54th meeting between the two teams in a series that began in 1979 with UAB winning that matchup in Birmingham. The teams split the series last season with each winning at home.
Following the UAB game, the Lady Eagles will hit the road for a pair of games beginning with Marshall on Feb. 28 and close out the road schedule at Tulane on Mar. 3 in a nationally televised game on CBS Sports Network.
