Women's Basketball Hosts Memphis for Military Appreciation Night
Lady Eagles look to snap a four-game losing streak.

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss women's basketball team begins a two-game homestand as the Lady Eagles host Memphis on Thursday night for Military Appreciation Night at 7 p.m. All military retired, reserved, and active get in to the game free with their military ID.

Memphis Outlasts Southern Miss 63-57
The Southern Miss women's basketball team put together a furious comeback effort in the second half, but it was enough as Memphis held on for the 63-57 win in Conference USA play Sunday in the FedExForum.
Southern Miss Preview
Southern Miss enters the contest with a 12-12 overall record and 4-7 in league play following an 82-60 loss at East Carolina. Tanecka Carey led the way with a team-high 17 points, all in the second half, while Jamierra Faulkner added 15 points and nine assists as she just missed a double-double.
Faulkner continues to lead the team in scoring with 18.3 points per game average while Carey is next at 14.8. Jerontay Clemons leads the team in rebounding with 6.7 rebounds per game while contributing 9.3 points.
As a team, the Lady Eagles are averaging 62.6 points on 39.6 percent shooting from the field. The Black and Gold is averaging 38.7 rebounds and shooting 62.8 percent from the charity stripe.
Memphis brings a 14-11 overall record into tonight's game and 5-6 in league play following a 74-67 loss to top-seeded SMU on Sunday. Four Tigers scored in double figures led by Nicole Dickson with 14 followed by Asianna Fuqua-Bey and Bilqis Abdul-Qaadir with 13 points apiece and Ann Jones chipped in 10. Jamila Ajanaku had 11 rebounds.
Dickson leads the team and league in scoring with 19.3 points per game with Ariel Hearn next at 13.3 points and Abdul-Qaadir at 10.2 points. Dickson also leads the team with 7.0 rebounds per game.
Memphis is averaging 69.3 points and 41.8 rebounds per game while shooting a league-leading 41.5 percent from the field and 68.2 percent from the line.
Southern Miss vs. Memphis Series Record
This is the one of the longer running series with an opponent. This is the 55th meeting between the two teams dating back to 1976-77, the first season of varsity status for Southern Miss. Memphis leads the overall series 30-24. Memphis won the earlier meeting this season.
Following the Memphis game, the Lady Eagles will close out a two-game homestand with a game against UAB on Sunday. The Children's Center for Communication and Development will be featured and recognized during the game.
