HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss women's basketball team readies for the first of a two-game road swing beginning at FIU on Feb. 19 at 5 p.m. central time.

Southern Miss Preview
The Lady Eagles (19-5, 8-3) are coming off a 91-73 win against Tulsa. Junior Tamara Jones scored a game-high 40 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while senior Jamierra Faulkner added a double-double with 13 points and 14 assists. Jerontay Clemons and Voche' Martain chipped in 11 points and 10 points, respectively. The Lady Eagles finished the game shooting 53.8 percent from the field.
Faulkner continues to lead the team in scoring and assists, averaging 16.2 points and 8.6 assists per game. Jones is next at 14.8 points and a team-best 6.3 rebounds per game while Clemons is averaging 11.1 points.
The Lady Eagles are averaging 78.3 points and 39.8 rebounds per game while shooting 46.2 percent from the field and 66.8 percent from the line.
FIU (11-13, 5-6) is coming off a 66-55 loss at Tulane on Saturday. Jerica Coley led the team with 22 points while Tynia McKinzie had 12 and a team-best eight rebounds.
FIU returns eight letterwinners including all five starters from last season's team that finished 19-13.
Coley leads the team in scoring averaging a league-best 28.6 points per game while Tynia McKinzie leads the team in rebounding with 7.2 rebounds per game. As a team, FIU is averaging 67.5 points and 41.3 rebounds per game while shooting 38.3 percent from the field and 76.3 percent from the line.
Coach Cindy Russo is in her 35th season at FIU as head coach.
Series Notes: Southern Miss vs. FIU
This is the sixth meeting between the two teams dating back to 1991. Southern Miss leads the overall series 3-2 against Southern Miss. Southern Miss won the first three meetings between the two teams, but FIU has won the last two.
