- The Southern Miss women's basketball team readies for a matchup with Tulsa on Saturday with a 4 p.m. tip.
In conjunction with the game, the Athletics Department will celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day.

Southern Miss Preview
The Lady Eagles (18-5, 7-3) are coming off an 80-72 win against Marshall. Senior Jamierra Faulkner led all scorers with a game-high 25 points and six steals while freshman Kierra Jordan scored 16 points. Tamara Jones added 11 points and Ashley Folsom chipped in 10. Markia Nix had a team-best eight rebounds.
Faulkner currently leads the team in scoring and assists, averaging 16.3 points and 8.4 assists per game. Jones is next at 13.7 points and a team-best 6.2 rebounds per game while Clemons is averaging 11.1 points.
The Lady Eagles are averaging 77.7 points and 40.1 rebounds per game while shooting 45.9 percent from the field and 66.0 percent from the line.
Tulsa (10-11, 4-6) is coming off a 75-59 loss to Rice on Wednesday. Ashley Clark led the team with 16 points while Kadan Brady added 15 and Mariah Turner chipped in 10. Turner also pulled down a team-best nine rebounds.
Tulsa returns seven letterwinners including three starters from last season's team that finished 17-17.
Clark leads the team in scoring averaging 14.2 points per game while Kelsee Grovey is next at 12.2 points and Turner at 10.7 points. Clark also leads the team in rebounding with 6.5 rebounds per game. As a team, Tulsa is averaging 69.0 points and 38.9 rebounds per game while shooting 41.1 percent from the field and 67.7 percent from the line.
Coach Matilda Mossman is in her third season at Tulsa as head coach.
Series History: Southern Miss vs. Tulsa
This is the 11th meeting between the two teams dating back to 2006. Tulsa leads the overall series 8-1 against Southern Miss. Tulsa won the first five meetings between the two teams and has won the last four.
Following the Tulsa game, Southern Miss hits the road for a pair of Conference USA games at FIU on Feb. 19 and Florida Atlantic on Feb. 22.
