Women's Basketball Hosts Tulsa on Sunday

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss women's basketball team returns home to host Tulsa on Sunday. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.

Southern Miss Preview
Southern Miss (12-8, 4-3) is coming off a 54-51 road win at UAB. Jamierra Faulkner led the way with a game-high 26 points while Nitesha Pierce added 10 points, all in the second half. Ance Celmina grabbed a team-best 12 rebounds.
Lady Eagle Basketball Falls to Tulsa, 68-57
Southern Miss (6-8, 0-1) could not overcome a 22-point first half deficit in losing to Tulsa (6-6, 1-0) in the conference opener, 68-57, Thursday night.
Southern Miss is averaging 63.5 points and 39.8 rebounds while shooting 39.7 percent from the field and 62.8 percent from the line. The Lady Eagle defense allows 62.2 points on 38.0 percent shooting from the field. The team is forcing its opponents into 20.7 turnovers per game while coming up with 10.2 steals per game.
Tulsa brings a 7-13 overall record and 2-5 in league play following a 50-35 loss at UTEP on Thursday. Taleya Mayberry led Tulsa with a team-best 13 points while Kelsee Govey and Loren McDaniel had nine rebounds apiece.
Mayberry leads the team in scoring with 18.5 points per game while Tiffani Couisanard paces the team in rebounding with 8.8 boards per game.
The Golden Hurricane is averaging 61.5 points and 40.2 rebounds per game while shooting 36.0 percent from the field and 65.6 percent from the line.
Southern Miss vs. Tulsa Series:
This will be the 10th meeting between the two teams dating back to 2006. Tulsa leads the overall series 8-1 against Southern Miss. Tulsa won the first five meetings between the two teams and has won the last three.
Following the Tulsa game, Southern Miss hits the road again, playing at UTEP on Feb. 10 for a 3 p.m. (CT) tip.
