Southern Miss Rendezvous with Rice in Houston
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss women’s basketball team begins its week of competition with a road contest against Rice on Thursday, Feb. 1 at 7 p.m. and will close out the week with a home game against Marshall Sunday, Feb. 4. at 2 p.m.
The Owls (16-3, 6-1) are currently tied for second in the Conference USA standings and carry a three game win streak into the match up with the Lady Eagles. Rice is undefeated at home on the season and the Lady Eagles will look to spoil Rice’s current streak. Southern Miss has defeated three C-USA teams this season that were also riding win streaks of three or more before facing the Lady Eagles.
The Lady Eagles are coming off an 83-60 win over UTSA that saw four Lady Eagles post 10 or more post, the first time that four players have done so in back-to-back games this season, and two Lady Eagles set career-high marks, Jayla King snagged six steals and Molly Brown registered 10 points.
Southern Miss is 8-6 all-time against Rice and 2-2 in H-Town since 2012. If the Lady Eagles capture a win, the all-time series record in Tudor Fieldhouse would be 4-3.
Fans can stream the game on beIN and also view it on the beIN Network Channel after the conclusion of Marshall at UTSA. Fans can also hear Josh West on the broadcast via The Score 1400 AM or the Southern Miss Game Day App starting 30 minutes before tipoff.
