Southern Miss Finishes Home Stand with UTSA
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss women’s basketball team (11-8, 3-3) will wrap up this week’s home stand with a 4 p.m. contest against UTSA (3-16, 1-6) tomorrow, Jan. 26.
The Lady Eagles, coming off a heart wrenching double overtime loss to Charlotte, are 6-1 all-time against the Roadrunners and are 4-0 at home in the series. UTSA comes to Hattiesburg on the heels of a 99-65 loss to FAU in Boca Raton, Fla.
The Lady Eagles swept the season series last year, clipping the Roadrunners in dramatic fashion each time. In the first meeting Jayla King snagged a career-high 18 rebounds. Only eight times since 2000 has a Lady Eagle grabbed 18 or more rebounds in a single game.
The Lady Eagles have three players averaging double-digit point figures six games into the Conference USA slate. Shonte Hailes leads the scoring at a mark of 16 points per game and has tallied 17 points or more in the last four straight contests.
Come watch as Seymour and his mascot friends (including Sir Saint from the New Orleans Saints) entertain the crowd throughout the game and play in a mascot basketball game at halftime. All fans will also be able to enter to win a basketball autographed by Jrue Holiday of the New Orleans Pelicans. As always, Seymour's Sidekicks get in free to all Lady Eagle basketball games but at this game all Sidekicks will receive a free water bottle and get to be a part of the pregame tunnel during team introductions.
Fans can watch the game on CUSA.TV or listen to Josh West on the broadcast via The Score 1400 AM or the Southern Miss Game Day App starting 30 minutes before tipoff.
