Women's Basketball Falls at Tulane 80-69
The Southern Miss women's basketball team dropped its final road game at Tulane by a score of 80-69 in Devlin Fieldhouse in a nationally televised game on CBS Sports Network.

Southern Miss Preview
The Lady Eagles (13-3, 2-1) are coming off a 92-82 loss to Old Dominion, snapping a seven-game winning streak. Senior point guard Jamierra Faulkner led all scorers with a career-tying 36 points to go with five assists and four steals. Jerontay Clemons added a season-high 20 points while Markia Nix recorded her first double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Faulkner now leads the team in scoring with 15.8 points with Tamara Jones right behind at 15.7. Clemons is next with 10.0 points per outing. Jones continues to lead the team in rebounding at 6.6 rebounds per game. Faulkner is dishing out 8.8 assists per game to go with 2.9 steals.
The Lady Eagles are averaging 78.5 points and 39.9 rebounds per game while shooting 47.0 percent from the field and 65.7 percent from the line.
Tulane (11-5, 2-1) comes into the game following a 69-65 loss to East Carolina on Jan. 15. Tiffany Dale and Jamie Kaplan led the Green Wave with 18 points each. Leslie Varpahl added 11 points while Adesuwa Ebomwonyi grabbed a team-best nine rebounds.
Tulane returns seven letterwinners including three starters from last season's team that finished 24-9.
Four Green Wave players average in double figures led by Danielle Blagg with 13.4 points followed by Kaplan at 12.2, Dale is next at 10.8 and Vorpahl chips in 10.3 points per game. Dale leads the team in rebounding at 8.2 boards per game. As a team, ODU is averaging 67.3 points and 39.1 rebounds per game while shooting 39.5 percent from the field and 58.8 percent from the line.
Coach Lisa Stockton is in her 20th season at Tulane as head coach.
Series Record: Southern Miss vs. Tulane
This is the 63rd meeting between the two teams dating back to the 1977 season. This is one of the longer running series of any opponent. Southern Miss leads the overall series, 34-28, and has won three out of the last five meetings.
Following the Tulane game, Southern Miss will head west for a matchup against UTEP on Jan. 22 for an 8:05 p.m. tip.
