HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss women's basketball team is set to face Old Dominion in a first-ever matchup on Wednesday with a tip time set for 7 p.m.

Southern Miss Preview
The Lady Eagles (13-2, 2-0) are coming off a 70-57 win over UTSA last Saturday. Senior point guard Jamierra Faulkner led the Lady Eagles with 19 points and 12 assists while junior Tamara Jones scored 15 points. Sophomore Jerontay Clemons grabbed a team-best seven rebounds.
Jones currently leads the team in scoring and rebounding, averaging 16.5 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. Faulkner is next at 14.4 points and Dinkins is right at double figures with 9.9 points. Faulkner is dishing out 9.0 assists per game to go with 2.9 steals.
The Lady Eagles are averaging 78.3 points and 40.1 rebounds per game while shooting 47.6 percent from the field and 65.9 percent from the line.
Scouting the Lady Monarchs
Old Dominion (7-9, 0-2) comes into the game following a 92-62 loss to Tulane on Jan. 11. Shae Kelley and Tiffany Minor led the Lady Monarchs with 19 and 17 points, respectively. Kelley also had a team-best 10 rebound performance.
Old Dominion returns eight letterwinners including four starters from last season's team that finished 19-12.
Kelley, the only player averaging double figure, leads the team in scoring and rebounding with 16.3 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. As a team, ODU is averaging 67.3 points and 39.1 rebounds per game while shooting 39.5 percent from the field and 58.8 percent from the line.
Coach Karen Barefoot is in her third season at Old Dominion as head coach.
This is the first meeting between the two schools.
Following the Old Dominion game, Southern Miss hits the road for a pair of C-USA matchups at Tulane on Jan. 18 at 3 p.m., and then at UTEP on Jan. 22 for a 8:05 p.m. tip.
