Southern Miss Battles LA Tech in C-USA Home Opener

Jan. 10, 2018

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss women’s basketball team (8-7, 0-2) welcomes LA Tech into the confines of Reed Green Coliseum Jan. 11 at 6 p.m. to kick off home C-USA play for the Lady Eagles.

The Lady Eagles have had a strong presence defending their home court in the past four seasons and have gone 58-12 in that time frame. In that span, Southern Miss has only dropped seven conference homes games, not losing any during the 2013-2014 campaign, and last season the Lady Eagles only lost one.

The Lady Techsters control the all-time series 7-5, but Southern Miss has only hosted LA Tech at home four times since their first meeting during the 1989-1990 season. The Lady Eagles are 2-0 in the previous home games with the Lady Techsters.

Shonte Hailes still tops C-USA in assists and assists per game and Amber Landing paces the conference in blocks.

The Lady Eagles main focus will be to slow down Alexus Malone as she leads LA Tech in points per game, rebounds and field goal percentage. She also owns the second best field goal percentage among C-USA players.

Fans can watch the game on CUSA.TV or listen to Josh West on the broadcast via The Score 1400 AM and the Southern Miss Game Day App starting 30 minutes before tipoff.
