Nikki Young is in her first season with the Southern Miss basketball program serving as a consultant/floor coach.
Prior to joining the Southern Miss family, Young worked in private business.
Young earned a bachelor's degree in business administration with a minor in marketing from Transylvania University in 2003.
While at Transylvania, Young helped lead the team to its most successful season in school history as the team recorded the most consecutive wins in a season and most overall wins in a season. The team qualified its first NAIA National Tournament while posting a win in the first round.
Young was also a member of the Kentucky women's basketball team from 1999-2001.
The Ashland, Ky., native graduated from Paul Blazer High School where she was a standout basketball player. While there, she helped her school to two state tournament appearances and earned all-state accolades.
Young is the daughter of Darnell and Mary Young. She is engaged to head men's basketball coach Donnie Tyndall.
