Tanya Watson is in her third year as a member of the Southern Miss athletic training staff. She is responsible for the athletic training coverage of the Lady Eagle basketball program and men's tennis, while overseeing women's soccer. She was appointed the clinical coordinator for the athletic training program.
Prior to coming to Southern Miss, Watson spent two years as an athletic trainer at UAB, where she was responsible for overseeing all women's sports for the Blazers.
Before coming to UAB, Watson was a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Wyoming, where she worked with football, track and field, cross country, swimming, diving and wrestling. While there, she earned her master's degree in kinesiology in 2004.
The Las Cruses, N.M., native earned her bachelor's degree in Athletic Training Education from New Mexico State University in 2001. She is a current member of the National Athletic Trainers Association, Southeast Athletic Trainers Association and Mississippi Athletic Trainers Association.
She is the daughter of Gene and Joyce Watson.
