Southern Miss Participates in Conference USA SAAC Meetings

Aug. 4, 2017

HATTIESBURG, Miss – Junior women’s golfer Valetina Haupt represented Southern Miss at Conference USA’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee meetings last week.

The meetings, held in Irving, Texas at the C-USA Headquarters, helped the representatives tackle a multitude of collegiate athletics’ hot topics from student-athlete time demands to the current state of the collective student-athlete voice in the NCAA governance structure. They also participated in a DiSC Assessment, leadership panel with top executives in the DFW area and discussed personal branding in the modern social media landscape.

“It was a great experience,” Haupt said. “We participated in community service, team building activities, leadership activities, SAAC and NCAA doings too. Building relationships with the other C-USA representatives and how the C-USA officials made us feel at home was my favorite part. They took care of every single detail and that is always appreciated.”

The group also volunteered at the Frisco Family Services Food Pantry and spent time with C-USA Commissioner Judy MacLeod.
