Carson, Dillistone pick up more Southern Miss SAAC accolades

April 4, 2017

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss track and field team had an outstanding weekend at its hosted meet this past Friday and Saturday, and Cra'vorkian Carson and Dana Dillistone were voted SAAC Players of the Week by their peers for those performances.

Carson has won the award three times. This weekend, he ran a 10.51 in the 100-meter for a first-place finish as well as a 21.05 in the 200, a new personal record. He is No. 13 and 17 nationally in those events, respectively, while holding the top C-USA spot for both. Carson is a native of Tylertown and a junior transfer out of Meridian CC.

Dillistone has now claimed her fourth-such award, the most of any Golden Eagle on the year. She more than deserved it after breaking her own school record (set one week prior) in the 1500m with a 4:25.80 on Saturday. The senior from Oak Grove is No. 36 nationally in that category and is second in the conference.

Southern Miss now sets its eyes on Saturday's Alabama Invitational in Tuscaloosa.
