March 14, 2017

HATTIESBURG, Miss.-- Southern Miss seniors Chao-Yu Huang (men's tennis) and Brittanny Dinkins (women's basketball) were voted SAAC Players of the Week by their peers for their recent performances.

Huang recorded two wins over C-USA opponents at the C-USA showcase. Huang posted straight set victories in both matches to stay undefeated against conference challengers. Huang had won eight consecutive singles matches before not finishing his match against David Warren of No. 38 Rice on court 4. Huang improves to 11-1 this season in singles.

Huang also won his seventh consecutive match in doubles. Huang and doubles partner, Wen-Po Tseng defeated three C-USA opponents on court 2.

Over the course of three games, Dinkins racked up 61 total points. She averaged 20.3 points per game and forty-six of Dinkins total points came in the second half of the tournament’s contests. Against Old Dominion, the Miami product made 12 field goals, second most in a tournament game this season. She also had five steals, the single game high for the conference’s 2017 gathering. Against WKU, she went five-of-eight (.625) from the three-point line, the best single game three point percentage of the tournament.

The Florida native’s 2016-17 point total moved to 608. She’s the fourth Lady Eagles to ever score 600 or more points in a single season and her 608 points are third all-time amongst single campaigns.
