Southern Miss Indoor Track Teams Finish 5th and 6h at C-USA Championship
Championship in Hillside, Ill., Southern Miss’ men’s indoor track team finished

5th with 73 points and the women’s team came in 6th with 37.50

points. Leading the men’s competition was the University of Houston with 150 points

while University of South Florida’s women finished first with 131.

Chris Koech was the first place finisher in the 3,000 meter run, followed by

Golden Eagle teammate Jaime Arriaga at fifth place with 8:39.64. Arriaga added a third

place finish in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 15:04.40. Samuel Cheraisi placed second

and set a new school record with his time of 1:53.37 in the 800-meter run. Four Golden

Eagles had seventh place finishes: Wenston Riley (6.47) in the 55-meter dash, Jason Wilson

(7.82) in the 55-meter high hurdles, Chris Dean (22.74) in the 200 meter dash, and Kenny

Johnson (50.12) in the 400 meter dash.

The men’s 4X400 meter relay team finished fourth with a time 3:19.82 along

with the distance medley team with 10:17.52. Jason Wilson garnered another seventh place

finish with a height of 6'02.00 in the long jump. Three Golden Eagles finished in the top

ten in the men’s long jump: Emmanuel Osabutey (24'02.50) in third, Jason Wilson

(22'07.75) at sixth, and Dywon Pullins (21'09.00) in eighth. Pullins also had a fourth

place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 49'01.50. Bryan Bruner and Jason Wilson

placed fourth and eighth respectively in the shot put with throws of 52'05.50 and

45'02.25. In the men’s weight throw, Bryan Bruner placed sixth with a distance of

42'02.25, followed by James Green’s 41'03.75 throw in eighth.

In the women’s running events, Rebecca Thornell-Lee’s time of 2:14.18

in the 800 meter run put her in fourth place while Tabitha White finished seventh place in

the 400 meter dash with a time of 56.15. Kendra Doyle’s 8.45 in the 55-meter high

hurdles was good enough for eighth place. The distance medley team set a new school record

of 12:07.70 while finishing in fourth place. Also finishing fourth, was the 4X400 meter

relay team with a time of 3:47.45.

Southern Miss had two women finish in the top five in the high jump. Hope

Sinclair set a new school record with a jump of 5'09.75 and tied for second. Her jump is a

NCAA provisional qualifying jump. Brittney Sublet tied for fifth with 5'05.75. In the long

jump both Mirescha Blackmon and Hope Sinclair shattered the school record of

18"10" and took fourth and fifth places respectively with jumps of 19'06.00 and
