Three Southern Miss Student-Athletes Earn Track and Field All-Region Honors

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association named its 2008 USTFCCA Outdoor Regional All-Americans.

Three Southern Miss student-athletes were listed among the Mideast winners. Overall, 52 Conference USA student-athletes were listed among the four regions. The award winners accounted for 65 All-America honors.

Topping the list for Southern Miss was sophomore Ashley May with two regional All-American merits apiece.

May competed in the long jump and triple jump, while Hana Prudilova placed second in the javelin with a school record mark. Senior Cornelius Duncan earned his second honor competing in the 400 meters, placing seventh.

May and Prudilova will compete in the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championship, Jun 11-14, in Des Monies, Iowa. The women's team finished 16th overall out of 84 teams.

To be considered All-Region the student-athlete must place in the top eight of his/her respective event.
