Norman Claims NCAA Mideast Regional High Jump Title

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Southern Miss' Cedric Norman claimed his ninth high jump title, finishing first at the 2003 NCAA Mideast Regional with a height of 7'1". Norman has won all nine competitions he has competed in during the outdoor season. With the first-place finish, the Golden Eagles earned 10 points toward the team standings.

Norman is coming off a personal, school and conference record jump of 7'5.25" at the 2003 Conference USA Outdoor Championship.

The Southern Miss women's 4x100-meter relay team (Prudence Reid, Kasey House, Candi Johnson, Angela Johnson) just missed qualifying for the finals, finishing ninth overall with a time of 45.99.

Other Golden Eagles competing in the regional on Saturday are javelin throwers Jeb Meschke and Conrad Chanove, women's high jumpers Kate Juedes, Krista Miller and Sabrina Norwood.
