BATON ROUGE, La. -- Southern Miss' men's and women's outdoor track teams recorded several top performances at the LSU Alumni Gold in Baton Rouge, La.

 

Marcus Polk finished sixth in the 200 meters with a time of 21.22.  The 4x100-meter relay team (Cedric Norman, Marvin Lucas, Marcus Polk, Shane Brandford) posted a time of 40.61, finishing second and qualifying for the regional meet.  The 4x400-meter relay team finished eighth with a time of 3:17.47.  Marvin Lucas finished third in the long jump with a jump of 24’11.25”.  Jeff Danso was eighth in the triple jump with a distance of 47’4.25”.  Cedric Norman was tops in the high jump, jumping 7’2.50”.  Bobby Weakley finished eighth in the discus with a throw of 152’9” for a season-best throw.  Jeb Meschke and Conrad Chanove finished second and third in the javelin with throws of 206’2” and 204’6”, respectively.  Maulies Pettaway finished seventh in the hammer with a throw of 142’4”, while Eric Lyon was eighth with a throw of 139’10”.

                                

Hope Singleton finished fourth in the women’s heptathlon with 4,651 points and Ashley Reyer took fifth place with 4,618 points.  Becca Wiseman finished second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:20.25, knocking seven seconds off her time.  Cassandra Goodson finished third in the 5,000 meters with a time of 17:53.15.  Jocelyn Young finished seventh in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.22. The 4x100-meter relay team turned in a time of 45.69, good enough for a regional qualifying mark and season best.  The 4x400-meter relay team finished sixth with a time of 3:50.62.  Sharlynn Monroe finished fifth in the triple jump with a jump of 38’5.50”, while Lexi Washington finished sixth with a jump of 38’4.25”.  Krista Miller took second place in the high jump with a height of 5’8”.  Dasha Wakefield was fourth in the pole vault with a height of 11’3.75”.

 

Southern Miss travels to Mobile, Ala., for a meet at South Alabama on April 24.
