Vincent Tanui records a regional qualifying time in the 5,000 meters, setting a school record in the process

OXFORD, Miss. -- - Five Golden Eagles recorded regional qualifying marks, while competing in the Mississippi Invitational on Saturday.
Newcomer Vincent Tanui ran a season-best and school record time of 14:11.39 in the 5,000 meters to finish second overall and record a regional qualifying time.
Liburd recorded a time of 11.99 in the 100-meter dash. Kristen Richards finished fifth in the 400 meters with a season-best time of 56.94, while Jamaka Wall finished eighth with a time of 58.20, also a season-best time.
Cheris Fletcher ran a time of 2:16.87 in the 800 meters, finishing second. Jemarie Alcordo and Parris Hodges finished fifth and seventh in the 1,500 meters, with times of 4:55.06 and 4:59.41, respectively.
Ashley Reyer ran a time of 14.67 in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing fourth.
May placed seventh in the long jump with a jump of 18'11.75", while Reyer was eighth with a jump of 18'9.25". Aaliyah Shareef finished second in the triple jump with a mark of 39'10.75" and Simona Costache was fourth with a jump of 38'7".
Suesanna Williams placed fifth in the shot with a throw of 40'11.50", while Rushae Collier was seventh with a throw of 39'8.75", posting a season-best. Williams then recorded a season-best throw of 155'1" in the hammer, placing fifth.
The 4x100-meter relay team finished third with a time of 46.99, while the 4x400-meter relay team recorded a time of 3:47.93.
Marvin Pinnock ran a time of 1:52.85, placing fifth in the 800 meters. The 4x400-meter relay team finished fifth with a time of 3:16.33.
Hunter Adkins placed eighth in the pole vault with a height of 13'3.50". Leonard McLeggon placed fourth in the high jump with a jump of 6'4.75". Richardo Page placed eighth in the shot with a throw of 47'11.75".
Both team return to action, competing at the LSU Alumni Gold, April 21.
